Bamiyan Cultural Centre

Situated on the Chawni Hill plateau, the Bamiyan Cultural Centre commands expansive views of the historic Buddha Cliffs. This proposal seeks to re-interconnect the site’s profound social and historical layers within the valley’s contemporary landscape. By reinterpreting the architectural vernacular of the ancient niches and Islamic monumentalism—specifically through the dialogue between semicircular arches and carved subterranean spaces—the design reforms the roof and facade into a landmark that bridges heritage with modernity
