    Meditation Forest Bath

Situated on a forested hillside, this wellness retreat comprises meditation baths, a sauna, and a lounge, designed to deliver a holistic sensory experience. The architectural sequence follows a controlled spiral geometry, guiding visitors upward to a panoramic rooftop platform. This layout harmonizes the building with the natural topography while establishing a clear experiential and circulation logic.

The project reinterprets regional vernacular traditions through a contemporary structural lens. A hybrid system was engineered to address the site’s complexity: a reinforced concrete base secures the building to the sloped terrain, while a sustainable timber superstructure reduces embodied carbon. Locally sourced stone is utilized for the envelope, providing high thermal mass and a tactile connection to the site’s geological context.

Environmental performance is driven by passive comfort and the registration of natural phenomena. Skylights are strategically positioned as primary drivers of the spatial experience, capturing diurnal light movement to modulate the internal atmosphere. Thermal comfort is achieved through the integration of material mass, controlled apertures, and natural ventilation strategies tailored to the forest microclimate.
In the bathing zones, acoustic attenuation and material density enhance the meditative quality of the space. The result is a restorative environment where structure and environmental responsibility are synthesized into a technically robust, operationally efficient, and contextually grounded architecture.
