004 House on the Horizon

This mountainside house is situated at the lowest point of the community with the stream channel around in the skirt of mountains in Taipei. Also the irregular site features natural environment with local blue Magpie birds flying over and perch on site trees and surrounding forests. The initiative is to preserve the nature and create a bird friendly house for the retired owner who loves gardening. The house are clad in blue stone panels and arranged overlapping to create the stepped horizons to overlook the mountains. The outdoor staircase alongside the lawn slope access to lower garden for dynamic outdoor experience.The plan is arranged around a central kitchen and dining space with terrace and balconies connecting to the communal living spaces. The bedrooms on the first floor are all spacious with balconies and large openings for mountain views.
